10:30 am CST - On the road again...

I'm getting ready to board the Alabam team charter in a few hours, headed to Columbia, SC. It's hard to believe that this is the last road trip of the regular season.

Virtually every person I've talked to has said basically the same thing: "Man, I know this has been a tough season for you to call (the games on radio)."

As a life-long Alabama fan, of course it has been tough to see the Tide lose games. And obviously, it's been excruciating to have so many games dropped by a small margin - especially when the team was in a position to win all but a couple.

At the same time, it hasn't been as difficult to broadcast the games as you might think.

There has yet to be a game all season when Alabama wasn't competitive. There have been a few games when the Tide didn't play as well, and found themselves behind double-digits, with a blowout loss appearing imminent (i.e. Kansas State, Kentucky, Miss. State). Yet, in each of those few situations, Anthony Grant's team managed to rally and make a game of it down the stretch.

Unfortunately, in those games - as in so many in which the Tide LED by double digits - they couldn't find a way to win.

Because of that ability to be in every game, broadcasting these games has not been work. It's not like LSU, where you go into every game knowing you have virtually no chance at a win.

I'll get on the plane to Columbia this evening, believing full well that Alabama will have a chance to beat South Carolina...and HOPING they find a way to actually get it done.

Talk to you tomorrow from The Palmetto State.

Roll Tide!
